Did you ever get an invitation to a very important dinner? That’s a good feeling, isn't it?
What if it's even more important. What if a king or president invited you to dinner?
Eating at their table provides fellowship, friendship, privilege and honor
Refusing an invitation shows indifference or dislike for them
Getting invitation means we are worthy. Therefore we must have followed rules set before to earn it
We have an invitation to something far greater, but again, we must be worthy
The Lord's Supper must also be eaten worthily
Jesus upon whom our hope rests instituted it
His body was sacrificed because of sin, but blood shed for mankind
1 Corinthians 11: 23-26
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
Eating preaches our hope, trust in Jesus, and shows our faith
Same Jesus is now on the right hand of God, around his table we are gathered now
While we take, remember as in verse 25... "this do in remembrance of me."
