To discuss the plan of salvation it’s best to start from the beginning.

First, mankind had a direct access to God in the garden [Genesis 3: 8-10]

“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”

 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

Then shortly after this, Adam and Eve’s sin was found out and God cursed them and in doing so took away their direct access to God as they once had.

Afterwards, man continued to sin and needed an offering of atonement for their sins on top of other sin offerings [Numbers 29: 7-11]

‘On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall afflict your souls; you shall not do any work.  You shall present a burnt offering to the Lord as a sweet aroma: one young bull, one ram, and seven lambs in their first year. Be sure they are without blemish.  Their grain offering shall be of fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for the bull, two-tenths for the one ram,  and one-tenth for each of the seven lambs; also one kid of the goats as a sin offering, besides the sin offering for atonement, the regular burnt offering with its grain offering, and their drink offerings.

However those offerings were not enough. [Hebrews 10: 1-4]

For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year.  For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.

So a plan was created. Another sacrifice had to be made, but this one would be special. [1 Peter 1: 19-21]

knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

And yes, Jesus was raised from the dead. [Matthew 29: 5-7]

 But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.  He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.  And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”

And He did see them again in verses [16-20]

Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them.  When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

And as that special sacrifice was raised from the dead, His command for baptism is also necessary for salvation.

Even so, certain steps must first be completed before one can become baptized

First, you must hear/read God's word [Romans 10: 14-17]

 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”  So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith is  developed by belief, which is the next step. [John 8: 23-24]

 And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.  Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”

Next confession must be made [Romans 10:9-10]

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Finally the importance of baptism [Acts 2: 38]

Peter replied "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that you rsins
may be forgiven. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
